Color Trends 2010

"Create some excitement in your home with 2010 colors"

Color Trends 2010 Color trends 2010. ..How are trends in color determined, and by whom? Good question!

The answer is Pantone, the global authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the design industries, 2010 home furnishings and interior design.

How does Pantone make these determinations? Not with the use of a crystal ball, they say. Instead, they result from the study and obervation of the world at present as well as the influence that will impact the world in the future.

What are these factors? Socioeconomic issues, technology, lifestyles, entertainment to name a few, plus the "needs, moods, fantasies and aspirations of consumers".

2010 Color trends starts with the Color of the Year....Turquoise!

Turquoise is incorporates the color characteristics of both green and blue. Green is a fresh, natural color that can be both calming and rejuvenating. It reminds us of nature, the outdoors and the environment. Blue is a calming and inviting color.

When put together, Turquoise becomes a color that is both soothing and inviting.

Turquoise works well with most colors, including adding some excitement with neutrals and browns, complements reds and pinks, creates a classic nautical look with deep blues, livens up all other greens, and is especially trend-setting with yellow-greens.

What are some of the other color trends for 2010?

Color trends 2010 Keep an eye out for earthy and natural shades of green, brown and beige. Soft, muted shades of green are what is in store for 2010, not the deep jewel and hunter greens of the past.

You'll see these colors combined with shades of pinks, blues and yellows or purples. And if you are a 'purple' person, rejoice! Look for shades of rich plum purples, vibrant violet purples and everything in between.

Layers of pink in various shades of intensity has found it's way out of a child's bedroom and into the 'grownup' spaces of our homes.

In your decorating with the color trends 2010, find a balance with accessories and accents that provide a balance and counterpoint to some of the softer colors. Remember that soft colors don't have to include frills and/or feminine styles.

Include some metallic finishes, straight lines, and deeper natural, earthy, woodsy tones to create an adult sophistication.

Color trends 2010 gives us the opportunity to have fun with turquoise. Add it as an accent color in an existing room. If you're looking to makeover a room in your home, consider turquoise as one of the primary colors in the palette.

We need the color turquoise to remind us of having fun, vacations, relaxation and enjoying life! It's a color that makes us smile.
