Contemporary Window Treatments

Understated simplicity and elegance for your contemporary home

Contemporary Window Treatments Contemporary window treatments can be defined as simple, functional, understated design elements in a contemporary home.

In fact, sometimes there is no window treatment at all...just a beautiful, clear 'picture' of the exterior.

For most, however, some type of window covering is preferred or needed for privacy. What are some choices for modern window treatments?

Blinds are always an appropriate choice, and in contemporary home decor, a metal blind could be a striking component in the room.

Iron accents are oftentimes found in modern decorating styles, so the use of a metal blind, perhaps even black, could be the perfect choice.

Roman shades provide a softer fabric covering and most often are neutral overall, with a textured fabric for interest.

Of course, vertical blinds are the standard and look best on patio or sliding doors. They are offered in a host of colors and textures to provide as much or as little 'drama' as desired.

Fabric window treatments should be tailored, simple and understated. No frills, lace or flowery patterns in for contemporary styles.

That said, you can still add some drama to your windows with a fabric panel in a solid bold color hung on either side of the window, for example.

Modern window treatments should have straight lines, similar to the rest of your contemporary home decor.
