Dining Room Window Treatments
"Window treatments are the finishing touch for your dining room decor"
Dining room window treatments are the 'jewelry' that adorns your dining room. I know...it sounds corny, doesn't it? But there are certain finishing touches in a space that can either pull everything together and create the decor look you are seeking, or present a less then desired outcome. Window treatments for your dining area decor are no exception. Here are some simple ideas that will help put you on track to beautiful dining room window treatments!

1. Decide how much privacy and light control you need. If you said 'yes' to this, think about a
wood blind, roman, honeycomb or roller shade or plantation shutters
for the first layer of the dining room window treatment. Note: for some homes, this will be all you want and need at the dining room windows.
2. Determine the overall look you want to create. This should complement and be consistent with the rest of your home. Casual and informal, traditionally defined, or anything in between...there is no right or wrong answer, just YOUR answer.3. Hand in hand with the second consideration is your overall decorating style. Not sure what that is? Read more about Interior Decorating Styles, then come back! 4. Consider the windows themselves in your dining room. How many are there? Do you have decorative transoms, circular or semi-circular windows to think about?
There are a couple of options. You can 'dress' the traditional windows and leave the decorative ones in their natural, beautiful state (they are usually high enough to eliminate privacy issues), or you can decide to highlight the decorative windows with a dramatic window treatment.
For example, you may have two rectangular windows side by side in your dining room. Your home is on the casual side, with a blend of traditional and cottage styles (you're the eclectic sort!). You've decided that the windows don't need privacy or light filtering, but you elect to put a simple, natural woven roman shade at each window. To soften the overall look, you hang fabric panels from a decorative rod, placing them at either end of the windows. Your dining room is viewable from the living area, and this design complements the treatment in that room. Not everyone's home will be that simple, but if you take the four fundamental decisions to under consideration, you'll come up with a great plan for dining room window treatments!
