Simple window treatments are a wise choice if you determine that your windows are the focal point of your space, and you don't require absolute privacy.Select a window treatment that doesn't compete for attention. Avoid an abundance of fabric, swags, drapings and 'over the top' type of styles. Let the windows speak for themselves.
A simple window treatment could include an element that is not made of fabric. For example, in our log home I had a number of windows in the Great Room. The walls were all log, with log trim around each window. We had
matching wood blinds
for privacy, but during the day they were open and almost transparent.
I placed a natural berry (silk, not real!) vine at the top of each window, with about one foot of the vine trailing down one side of the window. It was a great look, fit in perfectly with the natural, rustic decor, and highlighted the beauty of the windows.
Your window treatment will depend on your interior decorating style. If your home is traditional, a valance hung on a decorative rod could be just the right amount of softness for the room, while allowing the windows to retain their beauty and focal point in the space.
Remember that there are many
creative types and styles of blinds
available that provide an element of privacy and are offered to complement any style of decor. This type of window treatment may be all that you need.
A country style decor home might showcase beautiful windows with a simple treatment like a
lace swag.
Finally, the most simple form of window treatment may be no actual treatment at all, but instead showcasing the window through paint/contrasting paint colors.
