Tuscan Bedding Ideas and Resources

"Authentic Tuscan bedroom style or create a more opulent look...find your sources here"

Tuscan bedding may be the focal point of your bedroom suite, so you want to make great design choices as well as fabric selections.

First, do you have a design plan for your room? Take a minute to read these Tuscan Bedroom Ideas and determine what type of Tuscan interpretation fits your lifestyle.

Bedding in an authentic Tuscan home is, in a word, simple. There are no flashy colors or patterns in the fabric. In fact, almost every bed cover in Tuscan bedrooms is a Matelasse, which is a cotton jacquard fabric.

Tuscan Bedding Ideas The term Matelasse itself refers to the type of weave used in this triple-woven fabric.

These simple white blankets add calm and warmth to the bedroom and the weave creates a subtle design on the cover.

Here are a couple of photos of a guest bedroom in a Tuscan villa.

Notice the simplicity of the space, with a simple black iron scrolled headboard and a type of matelasse coverlet on the bed.

As you look around the room you'll see that there is very little else other than functional pieces and the gorgeous view out of the window.

See additional photos of this beautiful villa, or perhaps pay a little visit to the Tuscan countryside yourself!

Go to www.villa-tuscany.it and find out about availability.

Okay, back to our Tuscan bedding discussion...

If you want to see more 'decor' on the bed, add some vintage pillows in muted patterns, perhaps with a little lace. The bed itself is most likely a black or dark iron, with some scrollwork as the only adornment to the frame.

Other Tuscan bedding options include simple cotton quilts or bedspreads with more texture than color, to remain true to the authentic style. Flea markets and antique shops could be a valuable source of Tuscan bedding ideas and options.

Remember that authentic Tuscan style is almost austere in it's simplicity when it comes to bedroom decorating. Nothing fancy, ornate or overly colorful here. Comfortable? Absolutely.

Tuscan Decorating Ideas Close your eyes and imagine that you are standing in your bedroom, gazing out at the breathtaking Tuscan countryside. That is all the color you need!

Okay, so now your eyes are open and you're not in Tuscany. But you may want to see some of those beautiful, warm, sensuous colors in your bedroom, with a little more luxurious and opulent feel.

No worries! You'll create a warm, inviting space with Tuscan bedding in the vibrant colors of the Tuscany countryside, using warm, earthy colors like dark orange, red, brown, sage green, and mustard yellow.
